Summary
Markdown Preview Editor does not collect personal data. There are no accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no trackers. The text you write stays in your browser and is never sent to us.
Who runs the service
Markdown Preview Editor is an open-source project maintained by Oleg Vasendin (@ovasendin). It consists of this website and the online editor at app.mdprevieweditor.com. Contact: hello@mdprevieweditor.com.
Data we collect
None. We do not ask for your name, email address or any other personal information, and we do not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking scripts on the website or in the editor.
Your documents
- The editor runs entirely in your browser. Your documents are processed on your device and are not uploaded to any server.
- By default documents are kept in memory only and disappear when you close the tab. If you turn on Remember documents in this browser in the settings, they are saved in your browser’s
localStorageon your device. You can turn this off at any time, and the editor can clear all saved data. - Interface preferences (theme, layout, language) are also kept in
localStorage. They never contain document text. - This data is stored by your browser, not by us. Clearing the site data in your browser removes it.
External content
The editor starts in full-protection mode: images, audio and video from other websites are not loaded and external links are inactive. If you choose to allow external content, your browser contacts those third-party servers directly to fetch it, and they may receive standard request data such as your IP address. We are not involved in that connection and do not control those servers.
Hosting and server logs
The website and the editor are static files served by a web hosting provider. Like almost every web server, the hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL and time of the request) for operation and security. We do not use these logs to identify visitors and do not combine them with other data.
Third-party badges
The footer of the website shows a directory badge (for example “Listed on Turbo0”) loaded from img.turbo0.com. Loading the image sends a standard request (IP address, browser information, referring page) to that third party, which has its own privacy policy. The editor itself does not load third-party badges.
Self-hosted copies
The source code is published under the MIT License and anyone may run their own copy. This policy applies only to the website and editor operated by us at mdprevieweditor.com and app.mdprevieweditor.com. The person who hosts a copy is responsible for that copy.
Children
The service is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If the service changes in a way that affects privacy, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. The full history of changes is public in the GitHub repository.
